Standard 55, Premium 55 or Classic 77

Three options at a glance

The best option depends on two things. How you use the garage, and how large the opening is. If price is the main driver, Standard 55 is the sensible starting point. If comfort matters more, Premium 55 is the upgrade. If the opening is wider or the door is larger, Classic 77 is usually the right choice.

OptionMain reason to choose itSlat specBest fit
TWF Standard 55Best price55mm slat, 9mm profile depthMost single garages, price focused
TWF Premium 55Best insulation in the 55mm range55mm slat, 12.5mm profile depthAttached garages, comfort focused
TWF Classic 77Thickest, widest slat for large doors77mm slat, 18mm profile depthWider openings, double garages

All three options are insulated aluminium roller garage doors. The main differences are price position, comfort level and how suitable they are for wider openings.

55mm slat | 9mm profile depth

TWF Standard 55 is the starting point for most customers. It gives you an insulated, made to measure roller door at the best possible price in our range.

It is a strong all round choice for:

  • Most single garages and standard openings
  • Homeowners who want insulation but are mainly price conscious
  • General day to day use where a simple, reliable solution is enough

55mm slat | 12.5mm profile depth

TWF Premium 55 is our comfort focused upgrade, with noticeably stronger insulation and a more solid, premium feel than the standard door.

It is a great choice for:

  • Attached or integral garages next to living spaces
  • Garages used as a utility room, workshop or gym
  • For a garage you use often and want to keep warmer and quieter

77mm slat | 18mm profile depth

TWF Classic 77 is designed for larger doors and wider openings. The curtain uses a wider, thicker profile that helps the door feel more solid, especially across bigger spans.

It is typically chosen for:

  • Double garages and extra wide openings
  • Larger doors where rigidity and stability are important
  • Openings where a stronger curtain profile is needed

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main difference between 55 options and 77 options?

The 55 options are compact systems for most standard single garages and work well where headroom is tighter. The 77 option has a wider, deeper curtain for larger or wider openings, including many double garages, and usually needs more headroom.

Does a 77 option always insulate better than a 55 option?

All three options are insulated roller doors. Comfort comes from the whole system, including the curtain, guides, seals and installation, not just slat size. Standard 55 is best value, Premium 55 gives a clear insulation upgrade, and Classic 77 is mainly chosen for wider openings and a more robust feel.

When should I choose Premium 55 instead of Standard 55?

Choose Premium 55 when comfort matters more than hitting the lowest price. It suits attached or integral garages and garages used as a workshop, gym or utility room. Standard 55 is fine for basic parking and storage, but Premium 55 is usually better when the garage feels like part of your living space.

When should I choose Classic 77 instead of a 55 option?

Classic 77 is for wider or larger openings. Choose it if you have a wide or double garage, want the most solid feel when the door is closed, and have enough headroom for the larger roll and box. For normal single garage sizes with limited headroom, a 55 option is usually more suitable.

I cannot decide between 55 and 77. What should I do?

If your opening is a standard single garage, start with Standard 55 or Premium 55. For attached or living-space garages, Premium 55 is usually the better choice. For wide or double garages with good headroom, look at Classic 77.If you are still unsure, give us a call and we can suggest the best option for your garage.
